For the last year, I’ve been trying to explain how I work best with clients. Most clients think first about the “things” they need to do. We are, many of us, tactical creatures, so it makes sense.
I’ve discovered the term that describes what I love to do for small businesses! I take on the role of “fractional CMO.” I’m your part-time or contracted marketing strategist. I come in, learn your needs and desires, and help create a strategy that works for you, with your goals in mind.
Every business owner is different and has different needs. Forbes has a great list about choosing a CMO, but here’s my list about how to tell if you need a fractional CMO.
You are a small business but want to grow. You need to offload some of the “brain power” necessary to grow your business.
You don’t know where to begin. Sometimes you just need a direction so you can keep moving forward; someone to point the way.
Maybe marketing isn’t your “main thing.” If you can’t handle the social media, the content, the promotion, then let someone else take it on!
You know it could be done better. You’re doing things. But they aren’t coordinated and you aren’t sure they’re working.
These are just a few reasons why a fractional CMO. Finding the right person — that person you can trust and “click” with — can be the first step toward a successful partnership.
